Reflection

Design is my passion.  As an educator, I have always loved designing student-centered curricula. Meeting the needs of my students is important. So, creating a multimodality learning experience is my forte. I love thinking outside of the box and putting myself in the place of the learner.   The design experience I have acquired from the LDT Master's program at the University of Wyoming has been rigorous, fulfilling, and applicable.  I have enclosed artifacts that demonstrate my thoroughness and style in designing learning experiences for all ages.

Instructional Design Project

The goal of this project was to gain insight into the instructional design processes through practical application. I chose to design a 5th grade, hybrid, microcontroller basics course. This project was challenging and exhilarating.  I attribute the success of the design of the course to thorough analysis in the beginning of the ADDIE process and the constant reiteration of evaluation.

Online Course Development Project

The goal of this project was to design and create an online course in Canvas LMS while using Quality Matters K-12 Rubric. The project required at least three modules. Each module needed to have at least one assessment and one activity, as well as two to four module objectives. I designed and created a hybrid/online course for a 5th-grade introduction to computer science to be taught over the course of a semester.

Learning Experience Design Proposal

The purpose of this project was to design a learning experience proposal that was applicable to my professional field.  I chose to design a first-grade computer science learning experience.

Microlearning 

"Microlearning is a skill-based approach to learning that delivers information in small, highly focused chunks." - Dr. William Cain  This project was one of my favorites. We were supposed to pick a topic we wanted to learn how to do and create a microlearning experience with formative and summative assessments.  I chose to present this microlearning experience in a social media type of format, since most microlearning comes in that medium.

Visual Literacy

Lesson Plan

This project required us to create a visual literacy lesson using the attached lesson plan template.  I created a 4th grade Social Studies lesson that would be used as a kick-off lesson to a Westward Expansion unit. Instructional Visual Analysis

The purpose of the project is to combine the creative process with the theory of design into a novel application that can be used for instruction. Basically, create an infographic that teaches about a specific design theory or principle and explain your reasoning.
